Let’s Talk Turkey Tail
9 February 2022Our pledge this Black Friday
Black Friday is a commercial holiday campaign and the biggest discount shopping event of the year. For many, the campaign that now runs all week, is a prime opportunity to grab a Christmas bargain… Bur it’s also an outright climate menace. Fueling further environmental degradation and exploitation of the natural world, statistics show that 80% of items bought during black Friday will end up in landfill.
What if Black Friday could be used as a means for good?
Working so closely with the natural world day in, day out on our farm, we wanted to do our bit to offset some of the damage by donating 15% of our sales this Black Friday weekend to an organisation close to our hearts and aligned with our ethos – helping to protect, rather than damage our local environment.
In collaboration with WORK FOR GOOD we pledged 15% of all sales made from Black Friday to cyber Monday to be donated to Avon Wildlife Trust and their brilliant initiatives.
Avon Wild Life Trust is our largest local charity working to protect biodiversity and inspire people to do the same across the West of England. The work they carry out influences decision makers locally and nationally, putting nature and wildlife at the heart of policy.
One of the non-profits campaigns is calling for a #WilderFuture, and creation of Nature Recovery Networks, to better protect and join-up important places for wildlife. This is not so wildlife may survive, but is so they can thrive in an ever changing landscape.
The organisation cares for 30 nature reserves – from ancient bluebell woods to Iron Age Forts and nationally important wetlands – as well as holding education and community programmes that help people of all ages connect with the natural world, and take action to help its recovery.

Thanks to your help, we raised £500 to support all the important work that they do!
We couldn’t believe the amount of you that took part… it was by far the most people that have bought our mushroom tinctures from us in a single weekend, and by doing so, helping protect the natural world we know and love.
The interconnectedness of flora, fauna and fungi is crucial to a bio-diverse and flourishing ecosystem. We owe a lot to organisations such as Avon Wild Life Trust, that for the last 40 years have safeguarded Avon’s precious green spaces and wildlife habitats.
We are so grateful to every single one of you that made a purchase, and continue to. It’s thanks to good people like you that the conscious consumerism movement is thriving, and we can keep on working in a way that is purposeful, mindful and respectful of our local environment and the world at large.
